Access

 

Hikone city is located in Shiga prefecture in the Kansai Region in Central Japan.

If you are planning to use the public transport, the easiest and quickest way to access Hikone is by JR Station Minami Hikone / 南彦根. In case the train does not stop in Minami Hikone, choose JR Station Hikone / 彦根, where you can change to a regular train, which will take you to Minami Hikone in just 3 minutes. In case you are coming from the direction of Nagoya/Tokyo (this also concerns Shinkansen high-speed train), change the train at JR Maibara Station / 米原 (1 station from Hikone, 2 stations from Minami Hikone).

From the train station you can either take a bus or a taxi to the Sugoshi Factory.

 

By taxi: about 15 minutes from Hikone Station.
By Bus*: from Hikone Station (彦根駅) take the Mitsuya bus line (三津屋; operated by Omi Railway Group) and get off at “Sugoshi-kita” (須越北) bus stop. From there you have to walk about 1 minute to the Sugoshi Factory.

When arriving by car, please, use the parking lot next door to the Sugoshi Factory.

 

*Please note that the bus connection possibilities from Hikone (Central) Station are quicker and better than from Minami Hikone Station.
